Alex Romero - President Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce
Alex Romero is President of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the
Albuquerque Development Commission. He retired as a bank executive after serving 35 years
in the banking industry. Alex was responsible for the Bank's marketing outreach and its New
Mexico Banking centers. Mr. Romero graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the
University of Colorado.
Carlo Lucero
Carlo Lucero is President of Sparkle Maintenance Inc., a commercial janitorial and building
maintenance service since 1964. Sparkle employs over 400 people and service facilities of all
sizes, including financial institutions, government buildings and schools.
John Avila
Managing Partner of Avila Retail Development and Management. John is a New Mexico native
with 40 years of experience with his primary interest in retail jewelry and gift industry,
including manufacturing, wholesale and retail. He has received numerous awards including,
Small Business Persons of the Year, by U.S. Small Business Administration.
Maria Estela de Rios
Maria is Executive Vice President and co-owner of ORION International Technologies. President
of its sister corporation, ORION Information Technologies Inc., and CEO and President of
ORION Technical Resources. She has a degree in chemistry and mathematics from UNM and over
30 years experience in general business.

Parking:
Parking spaces in the lot immediately north of the Anderson School are
available free on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additional spaces may be found at the
parking structure next to Popejoy Hall (2 minute walk from the lecture),
for a nominal fee as well as paid meters along Las Lomas.
