Course Objectives

The MBA Knowledge Exam allows student to demonstrate knowledge obtained from required MBA core classes. Students will review core class objectives and sit for an exam over the knowledge gained in core classes. The class is offered on a CR/NC basis only. The exam will be graded as 50% participation, 50% final score.

Course Evaluation Process

Structure of Exam

Students will be required to take course exams from seven (7) of nine (9) MBA core classes. Content from MGMT 598 will not be included on the exam. The exam will be divided into four sections as shown below.

  • Section 3: Qualitative Section
    Students must complete 3 course exams from the following list: MGMT 506, 508, 511, 522
  • Section 4: Quantitative Section
    Students must complete 3 course exams from the following list: MGMT 502, 504, 520, 526

MGMT 601 FAQ

What is MGMT 601?

MGMT601 is a Knowledge Exam designed to test your retention of the core concepts from the core courses of the MBA program. This includes MGMT501, 502, 504, 506, 508, 511, 520, 522, and 526.

Am I required to take it?

All MBA students who were admitted in Fall 2019 or later must take it as a graduation requirement.

What will be on the exam?

Core concepts from each of the MBA core classes. The test will include multiple choice and true/false questions.

When will the exam be administered?

Students graduating in the fall or spring are expected to enroll in MGMT601 and sit for the Knowledge Exam during the second half of their last semester in the MBA program. Students graduating in the summer should register for MGMT601 and sit for the exam in the Spring.

How will my performance on the exam be evaluated?

Exams are scored as pass/fail. No letter grades are reported or released.

What if I don’t pass the exam?

Students who score below 70% will have the opportunity to retake the exam before the end of the semester.

How long is the exam?

The exam consists of ten questions from each of the nine core courses. Students can complete any testing module at their pace at any time during the semester.

Will there be a study guide?

The knowledge exam tests your retention of core information across your MBA program, not your ability to relearn information. A study guide is therefore not provided.
