31st Annual Hall of Fame Postponed

Dear Hall of Fame Supporters,

The health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance to UNM and the Anderson School of Management. Concerns regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) requires that everyone work together to mitigate the potential spread. Therefore, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs announced earlier this morning that all events scheduled through April 30th must be postponed. This includes the Hall of Fame Banquet & Scholarship Fundraiser, which was to take place this evening, March 12th. Our intention is to reach everyone about the postponement, however, due to the short notice; we request that you share this email with others who you know were planning to attend the event.

Please be assured that we look forward to hosting the banquet in the near future and will be in touch with you as plans emerge.

Yesterday, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham urged New Mexicans to remain calm while implementing proactive preventative measures, including avoiding large public gatherings, avoiding travel and remaining home if you are sick. Rather than going to healthcare facilities, Governor Lujan Grisham urged people to first call the State’s toll-free hotline at 1-855-600-3453 if they are concerned about having been exposed to the virus or are experiencing symptoms. The State will provide callers with guidance on what to do next.

We encourage everyone to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing practices and self-isolation if you have been exposed. UNM and the Anderson School will remain diligent in our efforts to work with public, state, and university directives to ensure the well-being of all in our community. UNM’s strategy to contribute to the national goal to reduce the rate of transmission and infection from this virus is underway. Thank you for your support of Anderson’s Hall of Fame Banquet & Scholarship Fundraiser. As you all know, this event is of paramount importance in our efforts to provide students the means to obtain an advanced degree and to honor the deserving alumni who have paved the way so that others may succeed. This year’s inductees: John Chavez, Alicia Gutierrez, Stephen Harper, David Jessen; and Young Alumni honorees: Nyika Allen and Darrell Garcia; along with Ann Brooks, the Anderson Faculty Community Award winner, are all shining examples of leadership. We are saddened that we cannot bestow the honor these distinguished Alumni were anticipating this evening but look forward to celebrating them in true Anderson tradition in the near future!

In the interim, thank you for your patience and understanding as we develop plans to reschedule the event. If you have questions, please contact Megan Borders at mborders@unm.edu or 505-277-1504.

Please take care of yourself and loved ones during this difficult time.

Thank you,

Shawn Berman, PhD
Interim Dean
