August 5, 2002

The Management Development Center at UNM's Anderson Schools of Management is offering seven certificate programs in Albuquerque beginning the week of September 2nd. The programs are The Nuts and Bolts of Human Resources, Financial Investigations, Nonprofit Management, Basic Accounting, Human Resource Management, Basic Management and Advanced Management. These programs offer professionals the opportunity to develop and improve job-related skills in just 12 weeks without having to be formally admitted or enrolled in the University.

The Nuts and Bolts of Human Resources is a must for HR professionals who want to gain insight into key HR functions, establish a framework for integrating HR activities throughout their organization, and prepare a specific plan for developing the skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage an HR department.

The Financial Investigations Certificate Program is designed for people working in nonprofit organizations or those who are considering making a career change to the nonprofit professional world. It provides a thorough grounding in the day-to-day management techniques as well as the ability to think strategically and soundly about organizational needs of the agency. The nonprofit program also gives valuable insights for members of boards of directors of nonprofit organizations.

The Basic Accounting Certificate Program is designed for non-financial managers who need to understand the fundamentals of accounting and finance. In addition to mastering the basics, participants will learn how to make sound business decisions using relevant accounting information.

The Human Resource Management Certificate Program provides an overview of the six key areas in human resource management. Designed for experienced HR professionals, HR specialists who want to develop a generalist point-of-view, managers new to the HR field, and non-HR senior managers, this course prepares participants for the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) PHR and SPHR national certification examinations.

The Basic and Advanced Management Certificate Programs are designed to improve individual and group productivity and job performance. Participants will focus on practical issues related to their organizations and have the ability to network with individuals with similar experiences.

Courses begin September 3rd and registrations are now being taken. Participants registering before August 23rd receive a $50 discount. For a free brochure or to register, call (505) 277-2525.
