The American Indian Business Association at UNM Anderson Honors Keres Consulting

May 7, 2012

(Albuquerque, NM) - The American Indian Business Association (AIBA) at the UNM Anderson School of Management presented Keres Consulting, Inc. with its 2012 American Indian Entrepreneurial Leadership Award. The award is given annually to an individual firm for its impact on the community and AIBA students.

Keres is a Native American-owned general management consulting firm with specialized expertise in asset management and sustainability, engineering and environmental services, and communication and training. AIBA is a service organization at the UNM Anderson School dedicated to supporting and encouraging American Indian people in their academic, personal, and professional pursuits. AIBA's primary goal is to increase the graduation rate of American Indians in their academic endeavors and to serve as a role model by promoting the values of a formal education.

"We are so humbled to receive this award," said Timothy Chavez, President and CEO of Keres Inc. "While it recognizes Keres’ efforts in making a positive change to the Native American business community and its emerging young leaders, this award really symbolizes the realization of a goal I set out to complete when I started the company in 2001."

In early 2010, Keres established an internship program to provide mentorship opportunities in government contracting. The company partnered with AIBA at that time to identify and recruit intern candidates – a relationship that has fostered the placement of AIBA students in the Keres internship program. In addition, Keres designed a corporate wellness and service campaign centered on its corporate value to honor those of Native American heritage and others in need. Projects including participation in the Tour de Acoma – a cycling event benefiting the Pueblo of Acoma’s Haak'u Museum and Culture Center – Pueblo of Santa Clara flood mitigation volunteer project, and Albuquerque Indian Center gift drive demonstrate the company's commitment to the Native American community.
