UNM Anderson School of Management Ranks High in U.S. News "Best Business Programs"

September 14, 2016

(Albuquerque, NM) UNM Anderson School of Management for the first time was recognized by U.S. News and World Report in its national list of business schools.

UNM Anderson is tied for the rank of 114 out of the 516 United States undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business and accounting education and is held by less than five percent of the world’s business schools.

The U.S. News ranking is based on the judgements of deans and senior faculty at peer AACSB institutions. Anderson Dean Craig White is pleased that other schools are taking notice of the Anderson School.

"This is an honor because the ranking is a measure of how Anderson is perceived by its peer institutions. Incidentally, the Anderson School is one of only 174 programs world-wide holding both business and accounting accreditation. I believe this duel accreditation status contributes to the recognition of the quality of our programs."

Dean White is currently working with a partner school in China to bring students to the Anderson School. He says the ranking will help with those efforts.

"Not only will this ranking increase our visibility among U.S. students looking to attend a business school, but it will also help attract international students seeking a well-respected program," says White.

The U.S. News rankings included both public and private business schools across the country. Dean White says among the public schools UNM Anderson ranked 67th with a score of 2.8 out of 5.

"This study reinforces the fact that New Mexico students can get excellent management education right here at home, without leaving the state. The faculty at UNM Anderson should be commended for getting high marks from their peers at other well-respected schools."
