McKinnon Distinguished CEO Lecture Series
Reservations are now being accepted for the McKinnon Distinguished CEO Lecture Series with Lameck Humble Lukanga.
On Thursday, September 28, Lukanga will present “Finding Success Without losing Yourself”. The event begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Banque Lofts Rooftop in Downtown Albuquerque and the presentation at 6:30 p.m.
Lukanga was born in a small village in Uganda, where he spent the first 11 years of his life enduring genocide, famine and 3rd world poverty. He and his family were granted a political asylum, allowing them to come to the United States to seek refuge, which he calls “The biggest blessing of his life.”
Humble, is one of the nation’s top young leaders in finance; he owns Life Line Financial Group, a wealth management firm servicing world class performers in business, sports and entertainment. In addition, Humble serves on various company boards helping shape strategy and execution. He also serves on the board of trustees for the University of New Mexico Foundation.
He holds both a Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico.
Mr. Lukanga is passionate about social entrepreneurship, financial literacy, freedom and the orphans of Uganda. He is a philanthropist, teacher and self-proclaimed, ambassador of Hope. He has come far from the slums of Masaka, Uganda and he continues to inspire along the way.
The public is invited to attend the reception and presentation at no cost, however, seating is limited and reservations are required.
The McKinnon Distinguished CEO Lecture Series was created in 2010 by Anderson alum Sonnet McKinnon and her husband D. Ian McKinnon as an expression of their commitment to UNM and the Anderson School. The annual endowed lecture series provides a glimpse into the minds of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Business Plan Competition Kick-Off
13th Annual UNM Business Plan Competition Program Kickoff Reception is Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the UNM Student Union Building – Ballroom C.
Meet past winners who have launched their startup ventures along with this year’s boot camp speakers, supporters, sponsors and aspiring student competitors!
The kickoff is an opportunity for students interested in starting a business to learn what the program is about and how it will help develop them into successful entrepreneurs.

2017 Parker Center for Family Business Symposium
Mark your calendar for the 11th Annual Symposium on Friday, October 20 at Sandia Resort and Casino.
Keynote speaker Dennis T. Jaffe, Ph.D. will present “Building a Next Generation Family Team”. After a family enterprise is successful, the challenge for the founders, and members of the next generation, is to prepare and create a team of family members who are ready, willing and able to continue the business. The responsibility of this team involves not just continuing but expanding the business in new generations, diversifying into other areas, and sustaining alignment and harmony in a growing family. Quite a challenge and one that is quite different from that faced by the founding generation! The presentation will ask members of the older and younger generations to look at what they can do to create this working partnership.
The luncheon presentation is “Ethics within the Family Business” and the afternoon session takes a closer look at family business centers.
