Thanking our Board Members

The Anderson School of Management Foundation Board wrapped up a very successful year at its year-end reception on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

Anderson Foundation Board MembersDean Craig White thanked Board Chair Tracy Utterback for his leadership over the past year. Tracy had words of praise for board member Xavier Zamarripa who brought a fresh look and sense of purpose to the Hall of Fame event that brought in a net revenue of more than $153,000 to benefit Anderson student scholarships. In the past year, the Board also financially supported the new McKinnon Center for Management, the UNM Business Plan Competition, and a new professional intern position to assist the efforts of the Development office.

Leaving the board are Keith Bandoni, Suzanne Wood Bruckner, John Chavez, Robert Gabaldon, Dennis Garcia, Adam Honegger, Ella Leeper, Linda Parker, Vickie Wilcox, and Xavier Zamarripa. We will certainly miss them and we thank them for their service.

Tom Broderick will take over as Board Chair beginning on July 1, the same day we will welcome our new board members. We are excited to introduce you to them soon.

Executive & Professional Education Center (EPEC)

New Career & Professional Development Summer Workshops

Career & Professional Development is excited to announce two new workshops to the summer program line-up. Team Innovation is on Thursday, June 21, 2018 and will explore how to design and support teams that drive innovation. Leading Change is on Thursday, August 2 and will provide the tools for analyzing and successfully planning new initiatives or projects. Both one-day workshops take place from 8:30am-5pm in the Jackson Student Center in the Graduate School of Management. Lunch is included.

New MBA in Education Leadership Program Manager

EPEC welcomes Frank Borja as the new MBA in Education Leadership Program Manager. In his role, Frank oversees the development and delivery of the MBA-ED program while developing relationships with the education community. Before joining EPEC, Frank was the Assessment Coordinator for Albuquerque Public Schools where he oversaw and coordinated the implementation and execution of large-scale assessments for elementary, middle, and high school students. Prior to APS, Frank worked for UNM’s University College Advisement Center as a Senior Academic Advisor. Frank has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications from Florida Atlantic University and a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Southern California.

Career & Professional Development Welcomes New Instructor

Jennifer StineJennifer Stine has joined EPEC’s Career & Professional Development as a new instructor. Jennifer has been teaching organizational behavior, teamwork, and leadership for close to a decade. Her teaching experience includes a master’s level organizational behavior course at Harvard Extension and professional development short courses in leadership and teamwork within Harvard’s Division of Continuing Education. Stine holds three degrees from Stanford University. Jennifer will be teaching two workshops this summer, Team Innovation and Leading Change.

2018 Spring Convocation

Nearly 550 Anderson graduate and undergraduate students and their families and friends filled Johnson Gym for the 2018 Spring Convocation on Saturday, May 12. Andy Lim, CEO of Addmi and an Anderson alum who earned his BBA in Management Information Systems, was the keynote speaker. Lim talked about his journey as an entrepreneur and being an international student who had to learn the English language and work part-time as tech support for a dial up internet service.
