Greetings from the Dean's Office
December 1, 2018 - Leslie Venzuela
Happy Holidays! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are enjoying this Holiday Season. We wrapped up the semester last week and celebrated fall graduation on Saturday. The ceremony was held this year at the Albuquerque Convention Center because Johnson Gym is undergoing major renovations and updates. It was an uplifting event filled with family and friends. We enjoyed seeing everyone there.
Speaking of updates, I encourage you to come by campus when you get a chance. UNM has always had beautiful grounds and facilities, but even more so now with our McKinnon Center for Management building, Smith Plaza (between the library and the SUB), the new Physics, Astronomy, and Inter-Disciplinary Science building under construction to the west of Popejoy Hall, and other projects. The University’s great campus combined with an outstanding faculty provide the environment necessary for the success of our students and to be a globally competitive institution.
As I close this message, I want to let you know that I will be taking on a new position as of the beginning of the year. I will be moving into the role of Interim Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration. The Interim Provost is currently surveying faculty and staff regarding an incoming Interim Dean. There will be more details to come in future editions of This is Anderson. I am excited about this position, but my permanent home will continue to be at Anderson as a member of the Department of Accounting faculty.
Best to you and yours - Craig White
