Data Privacy and Retention Policy

Anderson School of Management at The University of New Mexico is committed to protecting the privacy of the information we collect.

We provide this statement to inform you about:

  • What information our web site collects
  • How that information is used and shared
  • With what other entities your information is shared
  • What choices you have related to information sharing

When you visit the Anderson web site, we collect standard information to help optimize how the site functions, including:

  • The version and name of the browser used in web site visits
  • The Internet address of the device used in web site visits
  • The date and time of web site visits
  • The specific web pages visited and the web sites that linked to those pages

We also use cookies to enhance and customize site visitor experience.

What Are Cookies

A persistent cookie is a small text file that this web site places on your computer so that it can remember you when you show up again later. We use persistent cookies to get aggregate metrics on site usage to understand how people are using the site and how we can make it better.

Most Internet browsers automatically accept persistent cookies. Although we think using persistent cookies creates a much better experience for you, this site will also work without them. If you don't want to accept cookies, you can edit your browser's options to stop accepting persistent cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the web sites you visit.

Marketing and Advertising

These cookies allow Anderson to utilize Google Analytics to collect aggregated information regarding how site visitors use our resources, so that we can improve our web services and deliver relevant content to site visitors.

We anonymize IP addresses and share that information with Google so Google can provide web site analysis to us. This information is stored only on U.S. servers. Google may send analytics information as required under the law, or in order to provide supporting services to Google for its analytics services. Google will not link your IP address with other data held by Google.

Use of Tracking Pixels

Anderson also collects non-personally identifiable information through tracking pixels that appear on our pages. A tracking pixel is a transparent graphic image (usually 1 pixel by 1 pixel) that is placed on a web page and, in combination with a cookie, allows us to collect information regarding the use of the web page that contains the tracking pixel.

We use tracking pixels to trigger ads on participating web sites based on activity tracked from the browser on a device used to visit the Anderson web site. We also use them to tell when an advertisement we run on another web site has been clicked on by Anderson visitors, and use that information to judge which advertisements are more appealing to users.

Specifically, Anderson uses integrated services that require Google Analytics to collect data via advertising cookies and anonymous identifiers, in addition to the standard information collected within Google Analytics. The additional services include display network impression reporting, remarketing to site visitors, and demographics and interest reporting. Functionally similar Facebook and LinkedIn pixels are used to collect data for use on facebook.com, linkedin.com, and web sites that incorporate third-party advertising.

If you choose to provide us with personal information, we use that information to respond to your message, and to help get you the information you requested.

  • Anderson does not share your Personally Identifiable Information without your consent, except as limited by law.
