Welcome from the Dean

Dean Mitzi Montoya

Welcome to the Anderson School of Management at The University of New Mexico and thank you for your interest in learning more about us. Whether you’re a prospective student, current student, alum or a member of the business community, we’re excited to engage with you!

The Anderson School is a world-class business school and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. We boast award-winning faculty and programs offering a wide array of degree programs for our diverse student population. With more than 24,000 alumni, Anderson graduates can be found impacting their communities all over the world.

If you are looking for excellent programs designed and taught by outstanding and engaging world-renowned faculty, Anderson is the place for you.

We are proud to offer an undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration and at the graduate level both MBA and master’s degree programs. The Anderson MBA can be pursued through the hybrid Executive MBA program, a program for students in or aspiring to executive level positions including new tracks in diversity leadership, global leadership or science and technology leadership; the MBA for Professionals, an evening, part-time program for early career professionals with opportunities in sport management, film and digital arts, health care administration, educational leadership, training and development, finance, operations and marketing; or a fully online MBA. Additionally, students are able to pursue fully online master’s degree programs in project management and cybersecurity and business analytics, both leading to high-demand career opportunities. The Master of Accounting degree also remains sought after, with options for students from both accounting and non-accounting backgrounds.

According to U.S. News and World Report, our part-time MBA program continues to rank as a top 50 program in public universities, #1 in New Mexico and #3 in the Southwest. Our undergraduate program is also ranked #1 in New Mexico by this report.

We’re excited to have welcomed more than 2,700 combined grad and undergrad students for Fall 2022. In particular, our graduate student population is remaining strong: in both Fall 2021 and Fall 2022, Anderson graduate programs have welcomed around 900 students.

Anderson students compete successfully in a variety of local, national and international competitions, most recently earning first place in the American Advertising Federation of New Mexico’s annual American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) and sharing the grand prize in the Global Scaling Challenge. Participating in events such as these provide Anderson students with real-world business experience and job opportunities.

I continually enjoy learning about our rich history and our students’ accomplishments, as well as getting to know many of our alumni and partners in the community. I’m energized by the commitment of our faculty and staff and the incredible potential I see in our students. I believe Anderson has a very bright future and I’m honored to count myself among the Lobo family.

As we return to campus, we remain diligent in finding creative ways to provide our students with the excellent programs they expect while keeping the Pack safe. I’m grateful to everyone for doing their part to support one another. If you’d like to get involved with Anderson, please see some of the ways you can engage and support our mission. I hope you’ll also keep up with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Go Lobos!
