Anderson Schools Host Brazilian Business Students

July 17, 2003

The Anderson Schools of Management at The University of New Mexico are hosting 24 Executive MBA students from Sao Paulo, Brazil as part of a five-year, cooperative international exchange program between the University of New Mexico and Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP). In only its fifth year of existence, the FAAP program is ranked the fourth best program of its kind in Brazil.

The students are taking courses in Organizational Behavior and Diversity with Professor Jackie Hood; Electronic Commerce with Professor Sul Kassicieh; Management of Services with Professor Steve Yourstone; and Mergers and Acquisitions with Professor Dante Di Gregorio. In addition to their classroom experiences, the students will hear presentations from U.S. executives.

Professors Dwight Grant, Raul de Gouvea, and Sul Kassicieh from The Anderson Schools, who have traveled to Sao Paulo each year since 1998 to teach for the FAAP EMBA program, organized the exchange. They attribute the program's success to excellent faculty combined with participation by local organizations, including the Economic Development Department of the City of Albuquerque, Grant Thornton, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Intel, PNM, Mesofuel, Mesosystems, the New Mexico Department of Economic Development, Rick Johnson and Company and Sandia National Laboratories.
