Press Release

January 5, 2011

(Albuquerque, NM) The National Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) announced today that the UNM Anderson School of Management has maintained its accreditation in both its business and accounting programs. An AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business schools.

A team of highly qualified accreditors, including Deans from Oregon State and the University of Oklahoma, visited the Anderson School in November 2010 for a comprehensive review of the school's BBA and MBA programs. The visit coincided with a review of the Anderson accounting program by accounting department chairs from Utah State and Kansas State. The visits were preceded by an extensive report put together by the school examining all aspects of Anderson such as school accomplishments, graduation rates, faculty qualifications, and faculty research. The teams also sent follow-up questions to be answered ahead of the visit.

During the three day on-site visit the accreditors met with students, staff, faculty members and the Provost. Based on the recommendation of the visiting teams Anderson School's accreditation in both programs was renewed by the AACSB for five more years.

Anderson Dean Doug Brown says accreditation is a vital indicator of quality.
"We are pleased with this endorsement of our programs and by the helpful suggestions and observations of the accrediting team, which help guide us in our efforts for continuous improvement."

"AACSB commends the faculty, deans, directors, and administrative staffs of each institution for their exemplary work in helping their schools earn the highest honor in business school accreditation," said John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International.

Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
