Alumni Spotlight: Kevin Todd, MACCT 2009

February 9, 2023 - Megan Borders

Kevin ToddAnderson alum Kevin Todd has been named the next chief executive officer of Sandia Area Federal Credit Union. His new leadership role officially started on Dec. 2, 2022, following the retirement of the previous CEO, Paula J. Peknik.

Kevin graduated from Anderson in 2009 with a Master of Accounting degree. The program's design allowed him to be more immersed in the studies he found interesting, which fed his interest and energy in his courses.

When asked about his time at Anderson, Kevin reflected on his greatest advocate and mentor, Dr. Leslie Oakes. "I believe she recognized my enthusiasm for the program and field. She helped foster my skill development throughout the program, but most notably through hiring me as her GA," he said.

Kevin has been working for 13 years in the accounting and banking industry. He has served as a CPA in the public sector, providing auditing services before becoming Sandia Credit Federal Credit Union's CFO in 2014.

Kevin shares his expertise in his spare time by serving on the Board of Directors for Storehouse New Mexico.

Kevin offered advice to current students: "Remember, your first job is not your last, and it will not define your career. Your career journey will take a circuitous path, so be open to learning new skills along the way, and more doors will open to you. Stay humble, stay hungry, and most importantly, don't get discouraged."

Congratulations, Kevin! We're excited to see how you will help Sandia Area advance in your new leadership role.
